Professor Parveen Kumar - Professor of Clinical Medical Education

The Centre has a particular interest in medical teaching and education under the guidance of Professor Parveen Kumar CBE, MD, FRCP, Professor of Clinical Medical Education and co-editor of Clinical Medicine, an internationally recognized textbook for medical students.

MSc Course in Gastroenterology: The MSc course is now in its thirteenth year and remains the only one of its kind in this country. The course is designed as both a complete curriculum in gastroenterology for new entrants into the field and as an update and exchange for those with some experience. The programme consists of a combination of ward based and outpatient teaching, together with lectures and small group tutorials. In addition, every course member carries out a laboratory-based or clinical research project which is presented as a thesis at the end of the year. Students come from all over the world with the majority of students coming from Africa and Asia .
