Allyson Pollock joined Barts and the London Medical School in May 2011 as Professor of Public Health Research and Policy. Formerly Allyson was Professor of International Public Health Policy at the University of Edinburgh and Director of the Centre for International Public Health Policy. From December 2006 to December 2008 she was Assistant Principal, International Health Policy.
From 1998 to 2006 she was Professor of Public Health & Health Services Research and Head of the Health Policy & Health Services Research Unit at UCL and Director of Research & Development at UCL Hospitals NHS Trust.
She trained in medicine in Scotland and became a consultant in public health in 1986. Her research interests include globalisation; privatisation, marketisation and PFI / PPPs; health services; regulation; pharmaceuticals and clinical trials; and childhood injuries.
