Stephanie trained in both Primary Care and Public Health and held a Department of Health National Career Scientist Award in Public Health (2002-2007).
She is Principal Investigator on an NIHR programme grant (RP-PG-0707-10189) looking at a novel self management intervention for chronic musculoskeletal pain: COPERS - Coping with persistent Pain, Efficacy Research Study: http://www.ihse.qmul.ac.uk/chsgppc/coper/index.html.
She is co investigator on an HTA funded ( http://www.hta.ac.uk/project/1618.asp ) cluster randomised whole home physical activity intervention for older people in residential care which is aimed at reducing the prevalence of depression amongst residents: OPERA - Older People's Exercise intervention in Residential and nursing Accommodation http://www.ihse.qmul.ac.uk/chsgppc/OPERA/index.html.
She recently completed an RfPB (PB-PG-0906-11172) funded study of a self management intervention for patients with moderate to severe COPD: BELLA - Better Living with Long term Airways disease study http://www.ihse.qmul.ac.uk/chsgppc/bella/index.html.
Other projects include being co-applicant on a longitudinal study of adolescent health in East London. (www.relachs.org) which is explored health behaviours, obesity, physical health and psychological well-being in a large, representative sample of young east Londoners.
Stephanie sits on the NICE Public Health Interventions Advisory Committee (PHIAC) and in 2010 is Deputy Editor of the Royal Society for Public Health Journal Perspectives in Public Health (http://www.rsph.org.uk/en/publications-and-bookshop/Perspectives-in-Public-Health/)
