MSc in Primary Care: course routes
This will offer four routes:
This highly practical course will recognise the learning needs of students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience and will enable students to develop the skills and knowledge to become a leader and manager in primary care policy and practice.
Specialist Practice in Primary Care Nursing (District Nurse)
This highly practical course would suit students from a wide variety of nursing backgrounds and experience. The route enables students to develop the core skills and competencies of a primary care nurse or district nurse. The route is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
This highly practical course would suit students from a wide variety of nursing backgrounds and experience. The route enables students to develop the skills and knowledge to become a leader or practitioner in advanced primary care nursing and would particularly suit experienced nurses wishing to take on a first contact or case manager role.

Two modules are compulsory for all routes: Research Methods 1 (RM1) and Philosophy and Politics of Primary Care. There are compulsory modules and options for each route (see course diagram for details).
At the discretion of the Course Directors, students may also have access to a number of modules from the MSc in Public Health, also jointly run by QMUL/City University.
Students also have access to all modules offered at the 2 Universities which may be selected at the discretion of the Course Directors.
Completion of the Requisite number of taught modules leads to a Diploma qualification; completion of a dissertation on a subject appropriate to the route leads to an MSc.
