Project: A novel pre-clinical human model of visceral pain
Visceral pain represents a considerable healthcare burden and currently has no effective treatments. Due partly to the difference in drug efficacy between small animal models and humans, drug companies have struggled to develop new efficacious treatments despite substantial investment. This project is a continuation of the recent electrophysiological recordings of human visceral afferents and aims to further develop this model for use in drug development.
