Project: Development of dynamic integrated proctography

Functional defecation disorder is an important cause of constipation, which is widely prevalent in the society and extremely distressing for the patient. Our understanding of this disorder is limited by lack of gold standard investigations. At present patients require a battery of tests in order to diagnose the condition. Somnath is interested in developing an integrated test for diagnosis of functional defecation disorder, akin to urodynamic testing used by urologists for diagnosis of bladder outlet obstruction.
