The Imaging Core Facility currently has the following high microscopic systems available to users:- two laser scanning microscopes capable of confocal imaging (Zeiss LSM 510s) and a system for laser capture microdissection (Arcturus LCM), a Leica DM5000 flourescence microscope with image analysis software (QWin) and a JEOL JEM-1230 transmission electron microscope. The LSM 510s include both UV and visible lasers and objectives suitable for phase and differential interference contrast. One instrument is equipped with a META scanning module comprising a 32 channel detector. The Arcturus LCM is able to visualize and capture fluorescence-labelled tissues, as well as tissues processed by other routine morphological staining.
