FRET based gene reporter systems

FRET based gene reporter systems

A gene reporter system developed by Invitrogen uses FRET-based fluorescent substrates, CCF2-AM and CCF4-AM. These substrates are loaded easily into cells via the AM ester and produce a green FRET signal (520 nm) when excite with a Violet diode. Beta-lactamases produced as a by-product of gene expression cleaves the FRET-based substrate resulting in a change of emission to 447 nm, see figure.
